This is my first post in this forum. About a years ago a friend of mine gave my a Bali-song knife. I played with it for a while and put it away. I recently found it again and noticed it has the same symbol as all my benchmades do, on one side of the knife and on the other side of the knife it says 1985 Pacific Cutlery Corp. Did this latter become Benchmade? Is this a Benchmade? Is it worth much? It sure is a lot of fun to play with! I might pick up a newer version, any recomendations? Thanks...

Yes, pacific cutlery became what is now benchmade. chances are it is in fact worth a good bit of money, exactly how much i couldnt say. as far as new user goes, the benchmade 42 which you have probobly at least heard of is the first new model from BM in years. It's a great knife, i have 2, and a third on the way. the main differnce between the 42 and all older models are its' titanium handels. hope this helped, and i'm sure you'll be helped by others here who know much more than i do

Pacific Cutlery went bankrupt. Its owner, Les DeAsis, then joined another company, Benchmade. He brought some of the old tooling and some of the old staff from Pacific with him. The Bali-Song linage then transfered to Benchmade.

How much is your balisong worth? Well, that would depend on exactly which model it is and what condition it's in. Perhaps you can give us a better description or even post some pictures.

With that moniker on the blade it sounds like an International Series bali that was made in Japan...and welcome to the Balisong Forum!

I got also a PC International Series, the skeletonized handle utility blade, and the black insert black handle black weehawk.

Welcome also to the world of fascinating balisong.

Unfortunately, the skeletonized one's handle has a crack near slot of the tang. Not sure if it will hold up long. I seldom flip it anymore.

Anyone can enlight me:
1. does the feel (weight of blade vs handle) same as benchmade Zamak or Herbertz or Jaguar?
2. I believe the handle is rather light. How the feel compared to BM42? Blade vs handle length ratio?

I have one of these knives also and it seems to be a quality Bali. Although my BM-42 is my first choice for swingin'.

I would like to thank everyone for there help. I e-mailed Gollnick with a few pics and he was nice enough to get back to me. The knife in question is A Pacific Cutlery International Series Model 159. I am actually kind of happy the blade is pretty dull. I have been practicing and probably would have lost a few fingers by now with a sharper knife!!!LOL Thanks Again
