Pacific NW logging documentary

Ooh, Squamish, just south of Whistler/Blackcomb Mountain ski hills. Was involved with erecting a prefab house there in 1981 and to save on lodging costs I slept on the unfinished back deck one very warm July night. Darned if a fist-sized set of Cougar tracks didn't appear in the sand around the deck in the morning. I slept indoors after that. Would have loved to view that cat during the time I was there but never did. They're very quiet and secretive and not prone to tangling with grown men but those fresh tracks sure did startle me.

I thought that might peak your interest, 300.

You're best to play it safe with cougars. I've only seen one in the wild once. They usually see you first. One took a woman's small dog from her on a local trail a few years ago. She could do nothing as she heard the yelping fading off into the woods.

Cool find, thanks for that! My dad logged all up and down the BC coast from the 60's through to the early 90's and I always get a kick out of seeing early footage like that...

most excellent video.

once through is not enough.

Thanks Peg. I thought that I had seen all of these, but this was a new one. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks, good video, watched it last night. Guess I had it easy with a skidder and a chainsaw compared to them.

Watched this last night. Great stuff!

The Lumber Jill's caught my eye... Bet they were tougher than many men I know today.

Thank you for posting this for us here.

I enjoyed this. The steep bald rock at the back in one of the 'downtown' shots from Squamish from 100 years ago is now a popular climbing rock for purists and also features a volunteer-maintained walking trail up to the top.
