Read the one fella's review of his Pacific salt under reviews. I am looking at either a Pacific Salt or Endura 4 for an edc. Does anyone care to leave any comments regarding either knife what they like or don't like about the knives. I am a little worried about the blade play on the endura 4 as has been noted by some reviewers. Is this a problem with the endura's? Thank you for your input.

Pacific salt is mainly used for areas of high humidity and if you're gonna be near water. Endura 4 is a bit large for my tastes, but to each his own. Personally, I'd probably pick up a Delica 4, especially if there was one with a yellow handle. I'd rock the pink, but it just doesn't suit my tastes as much as the yellow.

E4. It has plenty of corrosion resistance already (I split my time between Texas and humid as hell arkansas) and I've never had any corrosion. VG10 in E4 has a lot better edge retention as well. Also no pinned construction like the salt, so you can take it apart if you want (voids the warranty), and adjust the blade tension.

Unless you plan on being near the ocean or water a lot I would save some money and get the E4. Though I feel its a bit large as well for EDC

I would say also it depends on what you will generally be cutting and how. The E4 has a saber flat grind, which is thicker and may be a bit sturdier; and the Pacific Salt has a saber hollow grind, which may mean thinner edge bevels and superior slicing ability.

As for blade play, it's not that the Endura 4 is known for it, but that on many lockbacks, regardless of model, there is some, slight and mostly noticeable when you apply heavy cutting pressure on the blade. I have it on 2 out of 3 of my E4's. On most Salt folders I have handled, there has been the same slight play when pulling back on the blade from the locked position (imitating hard cutting once again). I'd say about 50% of my Spyderco lockbacks have some of that play, but it's not 'wobbly' play and none have had any lock failures.

Isn't the Pacific salt and Endura the same size/ shape and the Salt 1/ Delica the same? Just with different materials and grinds?

I thought this was the case but could be wrong. If so I would say it comes down to if you are going to be around salt water. Some people also like H1 but it doesn't seem to have the best edge retention to me though I haven't got to use the Salt 1 all that much.

Endura is too big for me. Delica is too small.

Strangely, I don't think the Spyderco Military is too big, though. It's over 50% more expensive, but it is the one I would pick.

I have a Tasman Salt in H1 and it does not rust or corrode in salt water. I've never had rust on a Spyderdco knife, though -- except a Spydercard in AUS6.

thanks for the replies. I went to my cutler today and he had a package deal on the Endura and Delica. I bought them both (white) and they seem solid. I appreciated your input. Thanks.

I don't have a Salt, but I would say that I'd recommend the VG-10 unless you know you're dealing with aquatic and/or humid environments because VG-10 has very good rust resistance by itself.
