I've decided to buy a Pacific Salt SE for EDC this summer in corrosive environments such as on my boat, in swimming pools, jogging etc. The question remains now the color handle...yellow or black? The blade will be satin either way obviously (I know a black SE is coming out but it's not yet and I'm not waiting). I already have a black Tasman SE and almost all my knives are black handled currently.

What color should I go with and why?

Thanks for chiming in.

Do you wear bright colors? Like bright colors?
Are you prone to loosing your blade in sand, leaves.

Yellow.

You can dye it to a different color.

Black is GP Subdued.

I have a Pac salt in black. But I wouldn't mind
having yellow to rit dye it Green.

Get the yellow. That FRN dyes nicely if you know what you're doing. Then it's unique to you. Orange and green work the best from the yellow and it's easy to find the orange or yellow when you set it down or drop it.

I use both but probably prefer the black. The yellow always kind of has a "toy like" look to me. I don't know, maybe I just don't like bright colors.

My Salt is yellow and I really like it. However, the black handled/black bladed Pacific Salt looks awesome, IMHO.

I own both yellow and black SE Pacific Salts. If you need the added visibility, get the yellow. Me, personally? I prefer the black. IMO, it just looks better over time. I know some people find black boring, but I prefer it to colored handles.

I hear you on that gringo, or is it ringo?

I have both and prefer the black but always take the yellow if I'm going jungle fishing, even with a red lanyard t can be hard to spot in certain spots if you drop it.

You've got me thinking about a blade swap..... hmmmm....

My suggestion is to RIT dye the part of the handle black that sticks out of your pocket and leave the rest yellow. It combines low profile in pocket with hi Vis if you set it down and can't find it

Yellow.

As already noted, it's easy to dye it a darker color.

Here's a 'sweet' fade dye job on a yellow Pacific Salt SE ...

I would go with the yellow handle for the same reason as you stated, i pretty much have blacked out knives for the most of my collection. Ive talked to other people about the salt series in person; and the people i was talking with, would all go with a yellow frn salt knife. Advantages for the yellow would be that your spydie would be easy to locate, how ever this can be a negative if you live in an area where some people don't agree with knives being carried (never been in one, but apparently they're out there). If you're one who likes to do mods on your knives, you have the obvious ability to dye the scales due to them being light in color. I personally now need to buy two pacific salts after seeing the vid above that shows a nice "two-tone faded" yellow-orange color. Main reason though, why get the black, when you can get the yellow :D.

I also have a yellow one that I sold off after 2 summers.. will probably pickup another yellow when I go for a beach vacation... :)

If you've never misplaced a knife (or dropped one overboard), you will if you use one enough. Yellow is the way to go from a practical standpoint. Besides, it's a work knife, not a showpiece. Serrated is best if you're going to cut line/rope or bait, etc. Also think about a paracord wrist thong (especially if you use it on a boat). You can just let the knife dangle if you need to use both hands for a moment and grab it easily when done.

Just got my first H1 blade today after all these years, and I'm in love with this thing already. I got the yellow Salt, and it's a nice change from all the other dark knives in the safe. It's also helpful for me to visually know it's my water knife without having to check the blade before heading out the door. Looking forward to a Tasman next, unless I have the fortune of finding a Spyderhawk first.

I use a yellow Atlantic Salt for my sailing. Easier to see the yellow than the black.

In the city and EDC, I carry black G10 or CF knives. They conceal very well.

On the boat, I want to see rather than conceal.

I ended up going with yellow in SE...I like the color but it really jumps out at you (which I guess is the point), even when clipped in the pocket. I'm thinking of going the RIT dye route, probably going to go either navy blue or grey but not decided yet.
