I bought a Pacific Salt from Amazon about 2 months ago and it came with torx screws.

You could still get either one. If you're buying on eBay you could always use the "Ask the seller a question" function. From Amazon, just because Admar got a new one does not necessarily mean you will. I might depend on who fulfilled his order, Amazon or a vendor, and whether you order from the same source. Even then, not all vendors practice FIFO religiously, so you might still get older stock.

I got mine directly through Amazon, not one of the vendors. When I got mine, I did not even realize they changed from pin construction to screws. It was a pleasant surprise. I do agree with Deacon, if it is important to you, you should contact the seller first.

This is un upgrade and improvement IMHO....

This is the question I ask at eBay.

Is this the newer model with the torx bit screw that hold the handle together or the older style with the rivet stud that you cannot take it apart for service?

Also in the knife closing position, and the blade is not center in the handle, do you allow return and exchange?

And this the answer

This is the current model year - thanks for your interest!

And if the item is defective, it is covered under Spyderco's warranty for repair or replacement - or you may return it to us for a full refund.

Sounds like you'd be safe purchasing/bidding on that one.

I order it yesterday and got a great discount by using the GROUPON deal, I purchase the $15 ebay gift card for $7 and I apply 3 of those toward my puschase, total come out to ~ $35.
Thanks everybody for the reply
