Does anyone else like this knife as much as I do?
I work outdoors all day and in the summer time...sweat...alot. Every other knife steel I've carried...s30v, ats55, 154cm, vg-10 etc. all start to show rust spots...even at the end of just a day. Not so with the H1. No oil or hardly even a wipe down since I've had it.
I have no problem getting it hair-shaving sharp on a sharpmaker and it cuts awesome. I cut rope quite a bit and this blade goes through tightly woven solid core nylon rope, up tp 5/8 thick like butter.
I find the sheepsfoot style blade to my liking...I just end up bending or breaking off tips like those on the Endura for whatever reason.
Great job on this knife Spyderco!

I like it too. Now that the initial lust for my Manix has faded slightly I've taken to carrying the Salt down the beach again. I like the blade shape and it's light weight. Mine has gutted and scaled a few whiting this summer so it's a more than adequate fishing knife.

Wsyocum, I have both the Salt I and Pacific, have been very impressed by the H1 steel. Like you I find the blunter tips less fragile. Do find that H1 does not hold an edge quite as long as VG10. That's one reason I'm anxious for the Atlantic, as I'm shamelessly lazy and find a straight edge easier to sharpen than one with even minimal belly.
