Hello,

Im looking at picking up a used crk Pacific without the box. The only marking on the knife are the Idaho made with the crk logo on the reverse. Is there any way to know which steel it Is?

If it is MagnaCut or 4V, the steel type should be engraved on the blade under the Idaho Made mark, example: CPM MAGNACUT in the attached pics.

I never had one in S35VN so cannot confirm that steel marking. Can you show us pics of the knife/markings/scales here? The fakes/clones are quite easy to identify.

Sounds a little sus. As others said, if you could share a few pics, it would be helpful.

This is what mine looks like:

I've seen a lot of pictures of the first ones that were S30 and S35V that didn't state the steel, just "IDAHO MADE." I don't remember for sure, but I don't think my buddy's said the steel but it was an early one.

This is correct. They didn’t start labeling them until the 4v version came out. S30 and S35 were not marked with the blade steel.

Looking at mine it says Idaho Made. And it is S35VN.

Hope that helps

So this means two things to me. First that just because it's not marked with the steel, that doesn't mean it's fake as some have implied. Also, there really isn't a way to know unless it's sent back to CRK so they can reissue the card... if they even marked the blade or tang in some way to know when it was made.
