Ok guy's I need a little help... My wife & twins are going to get me a gift for Father's day. For the last 4 yrs they have got me a Folder but this year I'm thinking about getting a Pack or Shoulder bag? They usually spend between $50~65 . I like the Fatboy S type & the Thermite or maybe a 10X4 bottle holder w/ shoulder strap???? Anyting else out there you would recommend ? Can you guys tell me what you think about either one of these or another Brand /Style & maybe a link ?
Thanks:)

I have both the Fatboy and Thermite and love em both. However, from everything I have read, those Max Ped bottle holders are the shits right now. Very, very versatile. You have to ask yourself though what you need it for and that should give you your answer. All the way around, you cannot go wrong. HFD.

I have a Fatboy, and I love it. It's with me whenever I go woods-walking. I dont think you can go wrong with that bag.

Ive got the Maxpedition Versipak Jumbo which has the single shoulder strap. You can put so much into one of these that it really gets too heavy to carry all day on one shoulder and you find yourself switching back and forth constantly. Think about what you want to carry and for how long. The single shoulder strap is great for short day trips or light loads but if I'm carrying much for any length of time I want two straps. That said, all of the Maxpedition gear that Ive seen is built super tough--KV

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Cabela's has last years Kelty Redwing 3100 on sale for over half off right now. I just got mine 2 weeks ago, and I love it. It carries so darn well. You can load it up if you want and barely feel the weight because it distributes it so well.

It doesn't have a built in hydration bladder, but it is set up for one. I picked up a 3L Camelbak Unbottle from the REI outlet on sale, and it works great with the pack.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I recomend maxpedition all the way. But they have so many options that you really can be need specific with what you want to get done.

For a light load shoulder bag I HIGHLY suggest the Jumbo Versipack. Lots of people get the fat boy and love it but wind up wishing they had just maybe a tick more room. The Jumbo isn't any more cumbersome to carry but it gives you the option of more room and the added benefit of being able to carry a larger framed pistol in the back compartment like a fullsized 1911 or Hk USP or something. The radio/bottle pouch will hold a large bottle very securely. I use those Lipton 1.5 liter green tea bottles as water bottles and they are large and tall and they fit right in my Jumbo bottle pouch and stay put with the cinch cord drawn. I also have a few Klean Kanteen stainless steel 40oz bottles that ride well in it too.

If you need a little more room but want a shoulder bag the Maxpedition Colossus is a great bag. And it's set up to carry on either shoulder. You can attach the Maxpdition water bottle pouch on to it with Tac Ties.

The Sabercat is a great butt pack and can be outfitted with suspenders to make it easier to carry heavier items without sag. But it's a little more limited on space than the other two mentioned above.

As for a pack I love the Vulture II. I carry it every day with me as I carry just a little too much day to day to make the Versipacks work for me. I attached two BDS Medical pouches on the sides, a few knife/mag pouches, and a Maxpedition OCTA on the front of it. It's maybe the most versatile and useful bag I've ever owned set up that way. An it's very comfortable even with about 25lbs of crap in it. In the hydration flap I keep a blackhawk medium compression pack so that I have a junk bag should I have towels or dirty clothes that I need to take home with me or just anything I want to just toss in a bag. Or if I'm going hiking and want to bring a jacket but don't want to particularly wear it at first. Just strap it to the bottom and it is out of the way.

I also own a Typhoon gearslinger but I'm not a really big fan on single shoulder backpacks. They just don't distribute the load well. With shoulder bags it's the nature of the beast. But a backpack needs two shoulder straps IMHO.
