Pack Recommendation?

Hey RAT Pack, I'm currently looking for a ideal go bag. I currently have a Maxped Remora, but as much as I love the thing, i could go a little bit bigger. I'm a fan of MOLLE, internal compartments, and small profiles. the remora has a capacity of 225 cu. inches, so I'm guessing I'm after 50-100 more. the Stika looks great, but I'm a traditionalist bugger and prefer a top opening style. Should I just go for a Lunada?

I have looked into other pack makers, i.e kifaru, blackhawk!, and Eagle but I can't see anything too attractive past the Kifaru's E&E.

Opinions?

Have a good day/night guys.

are you looking for a back pack or a bag in general?

honestly one of my Fav bob bags is the County comm bail out bag. maratac bomb proof, pretty well designed as well... theres a decent selection of maxped bags.. etc for sling bags...

try summit , eberlerstock, badlands. tactical tailor. theres a lotta options out there.

i guess it comes down to what your going to pack, sence i pack a decent amount i guess i look for bigger backs.

but in the end..... you should really get what you want. sounds like you got a pretty good idea what that is.

MAX. FALCON II, I have this pack for my EDC. I us it for everything and take it with me everyday. It's a good survival or overnight hiking pack. You can put extra pouches with the MOLLE webs. Check out the pack on youtube, search Maxpedition Falcon II.

Have you looked Camelbak's military line? I had the MULE which has 540 ci of storage on top of being able to carry the water bladder. I used mine for work and day hikes, and it held plenty of stuff to get me through the day. I now have the HAWG which has double the capacity and love it even more. Just throwing out other options.

I love my Falcon II. It's very comfortable with 25lbs in it, and if you don't pack as much, you can tighten the side straps down and make the pack a fraction of its original size so your load doesn't shift around on you. It also positions the load high and in the middle of your back (it's a very narrow pack).

I carry up to 3L in modular pouches on the side of the pack, but they are foldable dump pouches so if I don't need the water I just roll them up.

I'm glad I started with a smaller pack (1500 cu) that I can add pouches and conainers to via the MOLLE loops, instead of getting a huge pack and having lots of extra space that I don't know what to do with.

The Falcon II isn't good for longer trips though, just 1-2 days I'd say.

I dont see what your gonna carry with something thats 3-400 cubic inches. why not try something like this : http://www.eberlestock.com/X2 Pack.htm
Its quite small by most standards, but is expanable to fit a wide variety of accessories and comes in a wide variety of colors including various camo's.

it just seems to me tha tyou would get good use out of a light pack as opposed to a small bag, im not knocking stuff like the remora i have some tiny maxpeds but i only ever use them for urban areas.

Im a fan of Kelty, Jansport, and (I can see your guys faces as you read this, lol) and LL Bean....yes LL bean, I have had a shoulder bag which i found at a thrift shop for going on 5 yrs now; i payed 5$ for it, and it has seen some hard times; it still functions to the fullest of its designed intent and beyond.
Im trying to get ahold of a Kelty redwing currently for first response, and have been liking the looks of the gearslinger by Max.

You also might check out the 5.11 rush 24. It is very similar to the Kifaru Marauder. I picked one up about a week ago for my EDC bag. A friend that has a Marauder, looked it over and has added pockets to his bag in almost the same fashion the Rush 24 comes standard. The price was a selling point also as it was $99. I to was looking at the Camelbak Military CBR HAWG, but with all the storage pockets and organization built in, I couldn't pass it up. Good luck.

Sorry didn't see the keeping it small part. The Rush 24 is about 2000ci but it does have the internal compartments you are looking for.

I have the Maxpedition Kodiak and love it. It has so many options. They make great quality stuff.

I have the Kelty Redwing. It's a fantastic pack that will hold up to anything. Might be a tad bigger than you need but some people say they've gotten in airline carry-ons.

+1, I take this pack everywhere its my favorite so far.

Maybe try looking at the Maxpedition Condor II or the Eagle A-III. They are both traditional style packs with lots of room and both are as rugged as you can get. Eagle also has a great warranty on their products.

I just bought a redrock assault pack it has plenty of storage room along with the ability of the molle system and hydration pocket for a camelbak.
