My current day pack is a Military surplus LBE/Buttpack shown in this thread: My large daypack/kit. I've taken it hiking 3 or 4 times this summer and it's been working out great for short hikes and long day hikes. Can carry 2 meals or more in the main pocket of the buttpack. I've been looking for a backpack to use with my LBE to carry extra food, water and clothes for over night trips. The Duluth Wanderer looks like it would work. What do you guys think? Would it work with my current setup to give me the extra food, water, change of clothes, and maybe a wool blanket that I want to have with me extend my trips? Or is there a different pack from them or someone else?
Here's some information that might be helpfull: The hikes into the campsites shouldn't be more then 3 to 4 miles and most of the time it should be between 1 to 2 miles. I'm hypoglycemic and eat 5 to 6 meals a day so I need room to carry plenty of trail food. Most gear I want and need is on the LBE.
Now that I've mentioned those things do you still think that the Wanderer work for me or should I look at another pack? IMO it looks like it would work. I'm looking for others in the know to post and tell me there experences and thoughts on this. Thanks,
Heber
