Package from BCCI

I got a package from BCCI today with the 2010 catalog, price list and the newsletter. The newsletter contains a list of the 2009 Special Projects and a pretty cool Terms and Definitions list. It answered questions I've had but was embarrased to ask. :o

Some very cool knives being offered as club specials also. I just made out the check and have it ready for the mail lady tomorrow.

Hi Dave,

I got my BCCI news letter & catalog Friday. As always there is some great info and offers to be had. You guys who have not joined should do so....your missing out!

So Dave inquiring minds want to know, did you get the whole set including the oak display case? How about the DY FG 500?

I ordered the set in the case and also an extra 110 and 532 to carry. I hope that by mailing the check in the morning it will get there in time to get the cased set.

So far I've passed on the DY 500. I have to get over the sticker shock on the others before I spring for it.
 
I have'nt got mine yet so I can't comment on what you fellas are talking about . DM ;(

David, the set consists of four knives, a 110, 112, 500 and a 532. S30V blades, inlays of green canvas linen micarta with red spacers and black sheaths. There will be 100 of each knife with 50 reserved as sets.

Dave,

You forgot the 501, so it's a set of 5 knives. This set is way cool, I do think you don't have to worry. Your check will get there before some folks get their news letter;).

:o Duhh, you're right. I just had a senior moment.
 
I went to the club site and tried to download the March newsletter and could not because of the pdf file/ acrobat reader being too high . They upgraded that in late 2008 and I have'nt been able to get anything since . So, I'll have to wait on my newsletter .
I've not seen or purchased and mounted on a knife handle a micarta that was both linen and canvas . Even my supplier only sells canvas or linen micarta . That was confusing to me . DM

I take it like this, it's canvas micarta. They are calling it canvas linen due to the fact that canvas is a heavy woven material in big heavy linen type sheet. However, we will have to see if the threads on these are heavy or fine.

I was thinking I was cutting back on the knife collecting.

To my knowledge Buck has not prior to this set offered a 500, 501, or 532 in S30V. Is that how the rest of you see it?

Well I guess I'm collecting knives again. :)

Just curious, Plumberdv, did you order one or three sets? (Limit 3 sets per person.)

This is too pricey for my usual trio approach : "One to use, a second for backup and a third for display"!

I'm still trying to decide what options I'll choose. Likewise for the DY 500. I wish this had come a month or so down the road. Only 100 total of each Smokey offering.... hmmmm

I imagine the knives look better in real-life. You can hardly see the red spacers in the photos provided in the newsletter. The green is probably a smokey olive. They are probably really nice.
