Jon and I received a package today from Iraq. :D These 2 flags were flown in "Operation Swarmer" in a AH-64D Apache Longbow flown by
Pilot, CW3 Mike Lewis. I thought these pictures were cool, and wanted to share them. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

I want to say thanks to, 1SG Jones of the 101st Airborne Division.

Hey Josh. Which is you and which is Jon? I talked to one of you at Blade last year and to Jon several times on the phone but do not know who is who. Oh and what is that on the table next to the flags on the 3rd pic? Looks like a ax like object.

Mark,
Jon is the old one with no hair, I am the young man with hair.:D
That is something new we are working on. We call it "The Rawk" It is a brute, 3/8 A2. Jon has had them on the drawing board for a long time now, it has just taken us a while to get started on them. We should have them done in a week or two. I don't know if you can tell by the picture or not, but the handle material is your custom micarta. We made 4 of them, 2 different models and put your micarta on all 4. We are pleased :D

DGG,
"Are you sure they are from Iraq?"
You can't bust my bubble :D It is hard to be for sure about anything, this day in age. The fact that they came as a suprise, helps a bit. If they are fake and they just sent them to get more stuff, well it worked, we will be sending more. I have spoken (written) by email with 1SG Jones several times, he is a class act. If anybody would like to send a care package to a great group of guys, contact me by email and I would be more than happy to give you their address. "Give and Ye shall receive"
The whole thing was supposed to help with their morale. I am not sure how much it helped them, but Mine and Jon's morale is very high.
Two flags in a package from Iraq: PRICELESS

1SG Jones also sent a couple picture :D

Now there is a slim chance I will get your names right in the future! I look forward to talking to you both at Blade this year. I thought that the handle material looked familiar but I wasn't sure if the "Rawk" was to be talked about yet or not. Looks sweet. Glad you like the micarta and thanks. Mark

Pretty cool. Also glad to know who is who now, as soon as I saw you two in the pic I was wondering which one of you I spoke to on the phone a while back.

Josh and John -

Just kidding. You guys are doing a great thing. You have my profound appreciation and respect for your efforts.

I had two kids with 1AD (1st Armoured Division out of Germany) stationed in beautiful Badhdad (actually Sadr City) for 18 months. One was the Captain heading up a recon platoon. The other was a Captain who was their casualty officer.

When they first deployed there they had no utilities at all. We sent them all kinds of stuff from beef jerky to 9mm clips for their Berettas (there was a shortage, thank you Wilson Combat Arms). They really had it rough because there was no place they could go that wasn't subject to some sort of danger. They lived in an abandoned building in the city with the locals. It got close to 140 degrees in the summer and they couldn't stay inside the Abrams very long because of the heat. They had lots of sand storms that really messed up the equipment.

Finally got tired of powdered Gator Aid and Pringles but by that time things had quieted down and they were getting some of that great army chow.

I also sent them a box of a couple hundred folders, spydercos, benchmades, gerbers, etc. that I scrounged up from various sources. At first they were worried about giving them out to the troops but reality quickly set in and everyone got some kind of knife. I avoided sending any flea market junk, they could buy that over there for next to nothing.

I had purchased each a Microtech MSE-SC (mini -ocom auto with belt cutter) that they carried the whole time they were there.

One of the funny things that happened occurred when I sent them a small radio controlled model airplane. It was a cheap plastic pusher propeller job that ran off a battery. My son said when he first flew it down the street where their barracks were that it cleared the whole steet instantly and he almost crashed it from laughing so hard. It was one of those toxic neon green jobs that doesn't make any noise (well hardly any).

Keep up the good works! And watch our for any camel spiders wrapped up in those flags!

DGG,
I bet everybody didn't think that plane was very funny. :D
Thanks for sharing your experience, and the links also, I enjoyed reading it.
