While doing the series on General Preparedness, I thought I should do a video on packing an Alice pack. I know that some people don't like the pack in question, I happen to use mine all of the time. I think one of the keys is not to overload the Alice. Anyway, if you have any questions feel free.

Nice job on the video IA, thanks for posting it.

I was pretty surprised at how much that pack is able to hold.
 
Thanks for sharing. Nice to see how other people pack their gear, gets around ideas of how to better their own packing system. :thumbup:
 
I have 2 ALICE packs... one for Fall/Winter one for Spring/Summer.

I pack very similar to you... I find most people who spend any length of time in the woods, end up humping the same gear.

I am just finishing my Kelty hiker's pack and am wondering about hard rain and keeping my gear dry. do you use a specific rain cover for the alice pack or just try to stay under shelter in the rain?
 
But wait, wait!!! Where do you put the 2000 rds of ammo??? How about the extra Glock and the Elephant gun!!! No 3 extra Busse Combat blades? What about the 5 lbs of beef jerky? No case of extra batteries? Gotta have a cast iron pot with a gal of oil!!

Nice video, I got a couple ideas from it. Ironically I was planning on packing my ALICE pack tonight.

I've owned a medium alice pack for just about 4 years now.. and until now I had no idea there was a storage pocket closed off with velcro. awesome thanks! </facepalm>
 
I really like the way that you have everything in smaller stuff sacks, I'm going to have to go through mine and get better at that! I agree, though, I've always loved my ALICE pack, one of the more comfortable packs I've ever had!
 
Great video! That really gives me some Ideas. Is that just your over-nighter bag? What's the weight all together with that?

Only thing I see is the water filter and bug spray in the same pocket. I dont think I want my water supply that close to DEET.
 
luckily here in hawaii i can use the smaller rucksack and get away with enough gear to be comfy! :p nice video!
