Today I received a package from a superb German knife maker. He made a fantastic padded Kydex sheath for my Team Gemini. What do you guys think about it?

Very nice.
How is it padded ?

Looking good, let's see more pics. How about down the throat of the sheath, so we can see the inside/padding.

Pretty cool idea for the sheath!!! I'm digging the TG as well  Congrats...

Does the lining help prevent scratches to the blade?

Not necessarily. Scratches are typically caused by a foreign particle that gets inside the sheath, not the sheath material itself.

It can prevent scratches, since the soft padding can succumb to the particles.

This sheath is made by Markus Reichart, he used a non-porous leather, that is washable and can be cleaned with alcohol as well. It really depens on the padding, other paddings are "gunk" magnets.
What I like about it is that it makes such a nice silent sound when you put in the knife.

Got to be careful with Padded sheaths, they get wet, hello rust, they get something in them, dust. Plastic just about anything, hello scratches, I learned the hard way, there is a guy around me that makes a cool sheath, leather outside, kydex inside and satin lining the kydex , it's made that way for a very silent draw , but is know to cause some of the issues I mentioned.
Beautiful sheath though ...

I understand your concern. As I mentioned in this case, there is no need to worry. The material does not get wetter than any ordinary kydex and doesn't hold dirt better. In other cases these issues can come up. :D

I met a guy at blade show who does this while also using removable hardware so you can clean it to the T. He has been slanging them on the bay for a while. He was at the induction dinner this year but can't remember his name for the life of me. Really cool guy and a helluva sheath. He claims it was patent pending :D

It looks like a well-made sheath and the silent feature (due to the liner) is a good bonus. Fine looking knife too!
