Hi all -

I'm apparently sliding down a new slope - found this on FB. Stamped Page Mfg. Co. I probably overpaid, but I like it.

New Toy... by Scott, on Flickr

I don't see anything on this manufacturer online (my google-fu may be slipping, only thing I've found is in regards to the Kalamazoo Sled Company, which I'm guessing is wrong...) Sharper than blazes, and is (mostly) single beveled. I have to admit, it was an impulse buy, even though I have long term goals to learn to carve spoons and get back into chairs. But other than the Lowes special hatchet I've had for years, I'm pretty much ignorant about them.

Anyone able to tell me anything about Page Mfg.? Or anything interesting about this particular tool?

Thanks,
Scott, down the slope i go

It was probably some kind of gift for valuable customers of Page MFG Co(Textile business out of Cohoes, NY or New Bedford, Mass).
It is flooring hatchet and possibly produced by Plumb

Interesting. Would it still have the Plumb stamp even if it were gifted? Without that stamp, is there any way to date this thing? Yes, I am a rank newb on this stuff...

Also newb question, as I can't really find any description, how is a flooring hatchet used in practice?

Thanks so much for your help!
Scott
