Paid for upgrade to Gold, what now?

Last week I paid for a membership upgrade to Gold, but my status has yet to change. What am I doing wrong?

You need to change your user group to gold from regular. If that isn't it talk to Spark.

I've tried that, but keep getting "There are currently no public usergroups available for you to join."

if you paid with paypal it can take up to 72 hours to be charged.

I did pay via PayPal, on October 13th.

No problem. I understand if he's busy with a new baby! After all it's not like I'm waiting for my medicine here. Its just a forum membership.
