I remember when i first became a member on H.I. Forums that I tried to purchase a Gold Membership, and for some reason, was unable to pay with my credit card, since "I am outside the U.S.." For me to go to my bank to effect a transfer is a major headache, as would be sending Western Union. Is there any way for me to send the funds via PayPal to someone (not just anyone!) who would then pay for the membership? Thanks! I'd cover you for any % taken by your credit card company... :rolleyes:

No need to go through all of the extra steps. Memberships are the one exception to the rule of "no foreign CCs". I've seen the topic come up before in the Service and Support forum.
 
Don't take it personally.

Credit card processors charge more for certain types of vendors, products, and transactions. They toss international cards in there.

It has to do with how likely the card processor thinks fraud might be, or how hard it might be to go after someone who doesn't want to pay.

It's just that Spark had to flip a coin and decided to save some bucks on his card processing, and didn't pay the extra for international.

I gotta give him credit for spending some bucks on a good hosting company. Hurricane force winds came through a couple weeks ago, and although nearly 1/3 of households lost power, I think his ISP stayed OK. The outfit he uses is good but not cheap.

Edit: I didn't really read Havoc's post -- I hope he's right.

Thanks for the thoughtful gesture, Dan; I'll add a bit to cover what you'll be charged by your credit card and PayPal for the Gold Membership. Still having trouble getting e-mails to you, so the PM function will be handy. :D

Doc, think this can be done on your end but seems it has to be done manually. Also the cost is $30.00 for a gold because of the international accounts having to be done manually.Here is the thread in Service and Support.
 
"All non United States orders must be pre-paid with money order or wire transfer."

This is a hassle in Italy, where customer service is not as smooth and rapid as it is in the U.S. :rolleyes:

Anyway, Dan Koster has been gracious enough to assist me in getting a Gold Membership, and it should kick in within a few days. BladeForums.com has provided me with a lot of useful information and pleasure, and it's only fitting that my appreciation is duly noted...

I must have sent out 10 e-mails to various folks in several different countries. Only yours bounced back! :mad: At least now, I have the possibility of sending PM's.

I don't know what's going on with the mail situation, but you're not the only one to have problems sending me mail.....:(

I'm "" this close to changing my email to a new account I set up (mentioned earlier in this thread). Maybe it's time to do it....
 
There's a "fatal error" :eek: with your server... You use two different e-mails, and you might have a lot of backed up e-mail. Try unloading a significant portion of the e-mails stored in both accounts... The other possibility is that the e-mail addresses are not correct, but this is not the case.
