So, may as well turn tragedy into a thread . . .

After 19 years of Sebenza every day carry, I lost my first one last week. It's somewhere along a 295 mile stretch of Idaho roads between Moscow and Boise . . . :( Small classic Sebenza with cocobolo inlays.

So, let's weep together -- what are your heartbreaking CR knife loss stories?

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. How did you loose it in such a wide stretch.

That must be painful.

Luckily, I don't have any losses so far. Though it's only been a year or so since I started carrying Sebenzas.

Look in small crevices in your car... I lost my Buck Vantage a while ago and found it in my car under the seat.

Because your a friend I want to help you out. In order to fund a replacement I'll buy one of your Mnandis or small mammoth s we spoke about.

That sucks........hopefully it's in a small nook under your car seat. Do you know how you lost it? :(

Everything happens for a reason. I betcha it will pop up soon.
and congrats on your first thousand posts.

The small Seb was the folder that I carried during my workouts. The cocobolo handles moisture (like sweat, getting put through the wash accidentally :o) better than practically any other wood inlay besides LV. The cocobolo Seb was clipped to my gym shorts pocket. My EDC for jeans (Lg UG Seb) was on me the whole trip, but the gym stuff got shuffled here and there, and . . . no workout the whole week. Don't know when during the trip it slipped out of the shamefully unused workout clothes.

The only consolation is the fun I'll have figuring out what my next workout folder will be. :)

There's the silver lining
But, I am sorry to read about your missing knife.

I feel your pain Fooj.My story is i regret that i sold my first regular large redwood inlay. That is my greatest lost of all:(

You know those random times when you see a pair of underwear on the side of the highway... now i'll always be wondering if theres a sebenza under them. :).

Such a horrible feeling losing a knife. Only in cases like this do i recommend the quick rebound knife purchase to make you feel better. (My wife is on to me though... and i often hear "keep looking, it will turn up"). So often it does.

Fooj, I dropped a brand new small regular into an 80-ft deep lake here in Va last summer. I'd just gifted my former EDC regular to my Son, and started carrying the new one the same day. I jimmy-kicked myself for the loss for about 24 hrs, then started carrying another one and never looked back.

The fact is, as much as we think we're immune to or above loss/confiscation of our prized knives (I remember thinking all the time, "how did that guy lose his knife?"), when you EDC anything for that matter, it's probably gonna happen once or twice in our lives.

Onward and upward. :)

Brother Fooj - man what a shock. That has to hurt and I'm very sorry for your mishap.

That is awful, it would drive me nuts to have it mysteriously disappear like that. Sorry to hear about you lost your workout buddy, now go get a small inlayed Insingo to fill the void!

I feel your "Pain & Dispair" Fooj - like losing a dear old friend. :( I'm not superstitioous so I'll share that I've never lost a Sebenza or any other high end knife.

I've developed a paranoid twitch tha makes me pat my folder on it's butt every 1/2 minute or so. So much so, that I do it w/o thinking. Helps me stop one from slipping out or gives me a short time frame of places to check, if God forbid, one did come loose and fall out.

i lost a knife in a taxicab overseas. i was doing the butt scoot out of the back seat, and the leather had to have snagged the clip. Thankfully it was only a smaller purchased knife, but i was still annoyed.
