Another great pic Stephen. Just one thing, being an archer I'm much intrigued by what the archer in the painting is shooting at. He seems intent upon the target, but the viewer is left to wonder what that target might be. The imagination runs wild.;)

Great stuff and many thanks. I have a half dozen thankas done by Buddhist monks and a couple of them are absolutely stunning.

Thanks again for sharing with us. You do come up with some beautiful pictures and quite a variety.:)

I love the unrestrained artistic license of other cultures!!!!:D

There's quite a lot more detail in the larger picture that I missed in the smaller one I looked at earlier.:)

Nice picture, which prompts two observations -
#1: I see the central figure in the clouds is also holding a bow, and
#2: I'm curious about the topknots on many of the figures - I've heard that's mostly a Taoist hair style, but I've never heard of Taoism in the Himalayas.

My buddy, Lama Jigme, a jungle monk (Tantric Buddhist), wears a topknot made of his own hair. This is supposed to represent a gompa, Buddhist temple. I'll try to get a pix of him tomorrow. He comes over on weekends for English lessons, lunch, and a little puja.
