I've been looking forward to one day ordering a custom 110 from Buck, one of the guys here has a beautiful 110 with buffalo scales and I was pretty much sold on getting one.

But the other night I stumbled on Painted Pony's site and I was pretty much blown away by their work.

Outside of the warranty being voided by Buck and shifted over to PP does anyone have any comments regarding PP's custom work?

Does anyone here own any of their custom knives? Do you think they are worth the price?

There may be people here who have a PP knife but don't know it. Perhaps a pic or a link to pics on their site would help. :)
 
I gather you are talking about Michael Praters Painted Pony series?

They are fine looking and unlike others, Prater guarantees his knives.
 
All of his work looks great; I'm going to pick up a customized 110 from him as soon as a little more cash rolls in. Hopefully, he'll do a couple ns-bolstered ones. :cool:

Edit: there's an ebay store, Grayhawk Custom Knives, where you can find lots of his work.

Mike Prater is a straight shooter and a heck of a nice guy, treats his customers the right way.

I found this one on ebay. Not sure if I should even post the ebay seller shop (Harris's Sharp Stuff).....don't want to violate any more rules:( . But, you see I had this belt buckle left over from my cowboy days......and....well....when I saw that knife I just had to have it.....you know....it goes so well with the buckle and all....no....not to ware....for a display theme...LOL.

The etch/engraving on the blade is the Painted Pony logo and it also states it's a proto type :D . I kine like that its a proto type; makes me feel like it's the first rattle snake skin 110 he put out like that.

Hi Rat man,

I love the dark green stone; whats that called? They are all very nice. Did you buy them on ebay or are they custom orders?

My next question was going to be about the matching buckle. Does make a great display match. :thumbup: :thumbup:

I will have to dig back through the papers to be sure on the stones in them. Papers should have been in the boxes but wern't for some reason Will see If I can dig it out to be sure.... They are off ebay out of direct MP aucton. PP Protos. Pics can't possibly do these knives justice.

Hi Keldog,

I did see one of the lizard skin knives :) . I like all of MP's stuff, I'd like to get him to make me a 55 to match the Rattle Snake 110 :D . That pair would make an awesome display:thumbup: .

Hi Larry,

I just looked at some MP's with the same green stone on ebay. It's called "Malichite", not sure how to even say that word :confused: . But, it sure makes for a nice looking handle :D .
