Good morning,

I did my research on the forum and google but I can't find the answer?!

Is it possible to spray paint the original becker handles, is it going to be resistant at all? Micarta handles are 50.00$ + here in Quebec, CAN...

If yes, what kind of spray paint did you used? I'm looking for a beige/coyote.

Thank you,

I painted stripes on my grivory with Krylon Fusion. The knife basically just sits there though, couldn't tell you how it will wear:

Amazing work Warrior! I saw your projects in the Thread: Post your Becker knives pics here. I'm a fan of the OD green and camouflage layout. Thumbs up!

Here are a few for you that might help:
How durable is Krylon Fusion?

How durable was it? I don't know. I didn't like the orange scales after all so I sandblasted the paint off. It was quick enough to blast off, but it adhered to the plastic better than I thought it would. It came off evenly with the pattern of the nozzle and not in larger chunks or flakes.

You could try making your own. See if there are any plastic supply stores in your area who would be willing to give you a few scraps of G10 or something, or wood from a local cabinet maker, etc. If you take the forming process slowly, it's not too difficult to do.

Look for a self etching paint that is for plastics. Apply it in thin coats and as many as necessary for a clean finish. Its probably not going to be the most durable surface ever, but redoing it after some wear is not going to be much of a pain. Probably hit it up with some sandpaper before, the paint will have the recommended grit but its probably around 250 or so. Make sure the surface is prepped and cleaned properly. The amount of prep work you put into is going to determine how good and durable your final product is.

ALSO there are duracoat products that come in a spray can or aerosol type set ups . You will have to look it up on the interwebz but they are easy one time use kinda deals that allow you to use duracoat without having to invest in all the bells and whistles. I have used it before on some AK mags and it turned out really good, and it was very durable. Again prep work is the key. It will be more expensive around 20-30+ dollars, but might be worth it. You could probably do a lot of handles with just one kit and it comes in all the fancy colors and you can get different patterns for it. Hope this helps!

Rustoleum truck bed liner toped with DuraCoat.

And a Warrior inspired Tiger Stripe, DuraCoat.

Any plastic compatible paint or primer will work on stock scales. I prefer DuraCoat because I have lots of it and a few airbrushes.

This might be moot, but I actually considered using the spray on Chalkboard paint at one time. I thought it might create a certain grip feel on the scales. But it only comes in black, I believe.

I was looking at that stuff when I was buying Plasti-dip for some mods. I thought the same thing. Probably would give it a frosty type grip.

I got some textured Krylon the other day at the Despot...it's supposed to spray a grippy, stone-like looking surface. Imma give it a go.

The stone finish Krylon sucks on plast from my experience. I tried it and it came off it about a week.

Plasti Dip goes on great, but when I tried it on a well prepped machete handle, it peeled off with one use.

I would go with Fusion or Duracoat. They're really intended for plastic.
