Dan, you may or may not know the answer to this one. What should one paint the kydex with (what type and correct proceedure)? With my son's knife (the one you are currently working on) I wish to color it in a close approximation of the ACU or maybe the Desert style so it will better fit in with his uniform when/if he is deployed to an active area. If you know the answer please share it! Thanks....

kydex can be painted with any paint. Plenty of people have done it before. Soldiers I've spoken to over in the sandbox paint a lot of their gear anyway....would be easy enough to add to it.

Digital BDU style will be hard to replicate...but if you just want some coyote brown on it...you can make a stencil. I'll have to dig around for a how-to website.

If you want the paint to last and not be easily chipped off or scratched...then you need some Duracoat. You can buy kits that include the stencil. Get the spray-on kind (no bake) and use their stencils....lots of guys do this and it works great. Costs more than a couple cans of spray paint, of course.
