Does anyone have any knowledge of a couple of makers in Pakistan. One is Ursa Demascus International and the other is Sufi-Damascus, both in the same region of Pakistan. Yes, I know, most, if not everything coming out of Pakistan is absolute crap. However, when researching makers of Musso Bowie reproduction knives, I first ran across a YouTube video that's a few years old by an American praising a beautiful Musso repro that his wife got for him off Ebay. The maker was Ursa Demarcus International. The knife was NOT Damascus, but 5160 steel. I must say, that it was absolutely beautiful and very accurate to the Musso displayed at the Alamo Museum. He reportedly said that it was razor sharp and the fit and finish superb, all of which seemed accurate to me. The metal had that nice ring sound to it when thumped. I also found a couple more vids by others reporting on their Ursa International Musso Bowies. All had praises. Unfortunately, Ursa International is no longer selling on Ebay nor Amazon. There is another "maker", Sufi Damascus, from the same region making Musso's that appears every bit as beautiful and quality made. I emphasize "appears." Sufi sells via both Amazon and Ebay. I did find Ursa International on the internet with the same named individual owner/maker. He's selling directly off his website with the buyer having to do a money transfer with of course the fees that go along with it. International wire transfers make me nervous, real nervous. Ursa International prices are currently double from what they were when he was selling on Ebay, and now a leather sheath is an optional purchase whereas before the sheath was included. Anyone out there with a handle on Sufi Damacus? Sufi's Musso is also in 5160 steel, with burl walnut or oak, and solid brass fittings

Maybe I'm just being prejudiced against Pakistani knives, but that all sounds like a disappointment waiting to happen.

My advice would be to find a custom maker on this forum to make you what you want. Someone with a verifiable track record of satisfying customers. And one who will stand behind their work.

And when I hear "A guy gave it a great review on YouTube", I can't help but wonder if they were a shill for the maker, or somehow involved in the selling of what they are reviewing.

Yeah, you're probably absolutely right. As beautiful as they "look", as the typical scam goes, if it seems too good to be true, run away. Thanks

This post feels a lot like a sales push....
Perhaps this could be helpful to those who seek out knife buying opportunities, or perhaps not.

BUT, this is the third time in recent memory that a poster with fewer than 3 posts has posted regarding a foreign knife of questionable origin in such a manner as to promote, unwittingly or not, the purchase of such a knife. One of these posts (not this one) involved a knife brand of disputed Russian origin. The OP made his/her first post promoting this knife brand, and since then (6 months ago) has only posted about 8 more times, primarily to keep the discussion alive.

Seems strange to me.
