Pakistani sword fetches good money on ebay.

I'm not sure why this thread was moved.
I know a couple forum members have purchased rehandled Pakistani knives as custom - I mean, collectors who should have known better.
This is just a heads up and a comment on ethics.

" this is only one of four made by Randall Parker and is numbered 7" LOL aren't numbers usually sequential so they correspond to the number of knives produced? Call me ignant, but I could swear that's how Busse, Randall, etc... operate.

I may well be the idiot that over paid for the paki sword. I bid on it in a last minute sort of thing, before brain kicked in.

Then decided that I would throw dice, pay and hope for best. Description stated that it came with leather sheath. Sheath was not leather, but pressed paper, you know like on the cheap knives from china, so on. Call guy on it, and he clamed to be Randall Parker Sr., sounded lame, but he already had my money and figured he was not going to send it back, sooooo I waited for the handy dandy cert of authenticity that he whip up for me.

My time is worth more than the money I would get chasing him, but I may anyway. I believe this qualifies as mail fraud.

He stated "that he is the old man Parker and that the knife was one of his early hand made ones, he felt bad about the high prices being charged for his and his sons work and he wanted to give back by having actions on some of his early stuff, bf (before factory). You know, let the average folks have a chance.

Yea, after receiving it I considered it a distinct possibility that it was 3rd world. You guys could have let me stay blissfully ignorant ya know.

If you paid via credit card and feel the item was not as represented, dispute the charge with the bank or credit card company on the grounds that you did not, in fact, receive the merchandise represented. Send a copy of the auction page (print it now before it goes away). Point out that the sale was for delivery to your address (important).

Again, Google showed zero hits for "Randall Parker" and knives or knife.

He is not listed as a maker in any book I have.

I can't find such a maker on BF or KF.

This smells pretty rank.
