Once again I throw myself at the mercy of the seasoned Spyderco fans of Bladeforums. This is yet another "Knife A or Knife B" thread, so apologies in advance for that. I'm currently considering both these knives, and for the life of me I cannot decide which one to go for.
The Pakkawood Hap40/SUS410 Police 4 or the blacked-out S30V Military. I have huge hands, hence why I'm looking at this size range. The P4 has a "traditional meets new school" vibe which I love, and the Millie appears to be more contoured and hand-filling. Both knives weigh the same, so there's no advantage there. I won't be able to try either before I buy, which is why I'm hoping to hear from you all. I know Hap40 isn't exactly stainless, but I'm okay with oiling it here and there along the way. I love backlocks, but I have nothing against liner locks. The Police 4 is more expensive, but only by a small amount.
I recently came across someone on Reddit who has been using the same Military since 1997, and that got me thinking about build quality and longevity. I don't abuse my gear but I don't baby it either, and it would be amazing to have a blade last 20+ years. Once purchased, the knife will become my primary EDC, and I can relegate my Endura 4 and Pac Salt to camping and truck glovebox duty respectfully.
So which do you like better? Which would you choose and why?
