This made me laugh. How would ANYONE know what smoked lamprey smells like?
Good to know I'm not the only oneTotally
Interesting. Were I live there aren't any possums so I don't know what smoked possum smells like. Does smoked possum smell like smoked lamprey. I haven't had smoked lamprey(european river lamprey) in some time so it could just be my mind playing tricks.I find Jephco's warwood smells more like smoked lamprey. Pakawood smells more like smoked possum.
Are you sure? It seems very odd to call lamprey eel. They are different animals after all.We call it smoked eel over here. Mostly sold as unagi in sushi restaurants.

Yes, different creatures, but in the US we get smoked eel, which is conger IIRC. Eastern Europe and eastern US have lots of them along the coastal areas and river estuaries.
Lamprey is often called a lamprey eel, which as you point out is incorrect. On the US west coast areas, they might smoke Pacific Lamprey ( which is also incorrectly called eel). I think the European lamprey is a river fish.
That Formeldyhide smell will pickle more than a few of your brain cells over time, wear a good respirator! I think it smells like Chicken! Are you sure? It seems very odd to call lamprey eel. They are different animals after all.
They live mostly in the sea but during autum they lay their eggs into rivers. Atleast in my country.I think the European lamprey is a river fish.
