After going to Knifecenter to check out the new Nighthawk, I saw the new Paklite series. I was surprised that I didn't see anybody talking about them on the forum here.

I think Buck needs to keep their website up to date a little more frequently or the Collectors club needs to keep up on this stuff and send out emails to its members.I still have yet to reap any benefits by being a member of the club and honestly don't think i am going to renew next year:confused:Sorry about the rant.

Back to the Packlites, I know what's going on my list to Santa:)

+1 :)

I like the paklite skinner, but the sheath is drag.

Those knives just scream "necker" to me, not belt carry.

Interesting comment BC....Neckers huh? Talk a little more about that? Hunting in mind or EDC?

Hey Spike Point taken about the website.

Spike,I know what you mean.I've thought the officers/board members should watch this forum like a hawk even on a rotation. But one of them viewing it OFTEN keeping a high profile.Answering questions, giving up dates, welcoming new members ect.. Rather, than just another good ole boys network. But weve been getting it done in their absence.DM

It would work with either, but for me EDC was the first thought.

Similar to the Kaala.

An inverted kydex or some other plastic neck sheath.

I would agree, but: The biggest benefit is not in things you might get. To me it is being part of something bigger, something that is built around an idea. Had I not attended the Atlanta Blade show this summer, I'd probably feel different. The meeting on Sat was one of the highlites. Getting to meet and talk to the Buck company was good, but even better was the next day, when we all gathered to honor the Senior Partner. I cannot think of another company in all my born days, that ever offered that opportunity to its customers. Add to that BSing with all of the Buck collectors and getting to know a great bunch of guys-well, there is no way to put a price tag on that. On the way home a car in front of me hit a deer, and I got to dress out a nice roadkill with a brand new out of the box Kalinga. I tell ya what cousin, life don't get much better.

Yes, the 20yr.reunion in Post Falls was awsome like that as well. The factory tour, seminars, dinner and lunch at Chuck's home was beyond great. The friendships I made there are lasting. An unforgettable experience.DM

Snotwad, I agree about belonging to something bigger and better. I am in no way knocking the club or its members. My problem is I can't afford to travel to the shows or The Buck Factory. The BCCI Knives are beautiful but out of my price range and just not interesting to me. Some guys look at Stag or Bone of some sort, and S30v or other high qaulity steel and are in love. I see an 812 with the black handle and am in love. I am a little more simpler with my tastes. I wish they wolud giveout some stickers. with the club membership, so I could put them on my hardhat and show the guys at work what else I belong to.

I am not an officer, just as David called me a occasional 'cheerleader'. I cheer lead these guys that can answer questions to do so and to work on fixing up the knife history section of the website. Some attempt has been made to make the website into a small talk forum. I suggest that the area set aside for that be used to ask questions and make comments just as you are now. When I have made statement and comments they are answered by officers or others in the know quickly. I can't think what that area is called but will check and come back to tell.
So, you aren't a fancy knife guy, hey man I am 300Bucks, I am nuts over the some of the least expensive and plainest knives they got. Over on the traditional forum I defend my 300s for their "tank" like quality, tradition and usefullness. Usually against guys touting their D2 blades, bone scales, etc. It's normally 10 against 1.
Can't go to shows or meetings maybe one will come closer to you. The club gathers available folks for shows over in VA. And next year a really big show is set for over in the edge of Smokies at Smokey Mountain Knife Works, the Idaho Buck folks will be present. Get-togethers, seminars and other events scheduled. Mid-August, lots of family entertainment available in area. I will try to give the 300 seminar and want to make it the seminar that everyone will try to match for a long time.

Yes, I would love a BCCI sticker for windshield or hardhat. I bet someone reading this post has a batch of old Buck stickers and will contact you and get you one. hint.....
There are T-Shirts, and other stuff in club storage. They even had a 301 stockman T-shirt. Go to website and ask Jack Foresman whats available. Back issues of the newsletter are available there also as are old catalogs. I go to both once a month at least for the info.

Don't give up and say no re-up yet. Stir the pot in the website and lets see who the Buck people are in your local. Email them and start helping watch for deals, events etc for your locale. We have a group of guys down here in southwest that are the Buck Rangers, we watch each others back. Make a contact and start something like that in your area.

To finish up my cheerleading, try the forum, make some waves there and I bet you'll be heard.
300Bucks(Both me and the knives, made like tanks)

For anyone who gives a beaverdam.
click on Club Member Topics and then BCCI member service and support
and that should take you to the BCCI website club forum.

All,
I would like to remind you that this forum is not affiliated in any way with the BCCI. Yes, several BCCI members and a few club officers/board members follow the threads and make comments from time to time, but that does not make the forum a BCCI site. The BCCI members that are actively on this board do a good job of answering the questions and participating in the discussion. Some of them are more knowledgeable in their area of interest than is any of our officers or board members.
As to things that could be done to improve the BCCI, we are always open to your suggestions. Some suggestions are not deemed in the best interest of the club and are not implemented while other suggestions pass the test. This is not unlike any other organization any of us have ever participated in. For example, we have had suggestions for club special project knives that were rejected because we were confident they would not appeal to more than a very few members. It would be great if we could do small projects of 25 or so knives, but that is just not feasible. Even if Buck Knives would do a small project for us (and they do not do so), it takes the same work and newsletter advertising space to offer a small project as it does to offer one that will appeal to a much larger percentage of the membership.
As to BCCI membership value, I do not see how anyone remotely interested in collecting Buck knives could not find club membership to be worth far more than the small amount it costs. The quarterly newsletters are loaded with informative articles written by people who know their subject. The BCCI website offers all known previous Buck catalogs and many brochures dating back into the 1940s! Each club newsletter is archived and available. Club members have the ability to obtain current Buck catalog and mid-year releases at incredibly discounted prices. The club special project knives are a tremendous value and almost always have special features that guarantee long term value appreciation. All the above does not even begin to include what I consider to be the best part of BCCI membership: the comaraderie and friendships with a group of really, really nice people. Even if you do not make the shows where the BCCI has a presence, club members can fellowship via email, telephone and snail mail and can help each other improve their collections and build their knowledge. I have often said that I got involved in the BCCI because I liked the knives, never giving a thought that I would meet some of my dearest friends as a result of club membership.
I will readily admit that the last of my points requires that YOU get involved. This hobby is just like any other part of life. One generally receives compensation according to what one invests. When we reach out to others and help them, we generally are blessed ourselves.

I had just become a life member when I was invited (via e-mails) by Russ Donoghue (BCCI advisory board), to drive the 200 miles south and come to the So-Cal knife expo last March. I put off going until the last day and I've been sorry ever since. When I went to the BCCI table and asked for Rusty, the guys there already knew to be looking for me. I've never been made to feel more welcome by any group than I was made to feel there. I was invited to hang out with them at the table and did so for my whole stay there. I met Bruce Dollinger (BCCI) board member, his son in law Wayne and then David Yellowhorse. There were others also whose names I can't remember, but all treated me like a member of the family. My big regret is that I didn't go at least a day earlier so I could have hung out with that great bunch of folks longer.

That experience alone was worth every penny of my membership fee, if I never get any thing else from the club.

Another thing that I get from the membership is access to all the literature that's available on the BCCI website. I use it nearly every day and for a beginning collector, it has been invaluable!

I'd join again in a heartbeat!

Thanks Larry.Good to hear from you.I'm still watching, trying to learn how this works.DM

Yeah when I first saw them I would have sworn they were going to come with kydex they would both make excellent neck knives.
