Pala's come and gone. Left today.

couldn't have picked a more worse time to leave, i hope Pala will be alright.(in light of the earhtquake)

If he was here at 10:55 this am, he got very shook up....7.0 quake, 30 miles down centered just north of Olympia. Last I heard on the TV SEA-TAC airport was shut down to both incomeing and outgoing.
I was in Costco when it hit and all of the storage racks started to sway back and forth when I beat feet outa there!!!! whew!

Uncle,

Did Pala ever get over the dysentary you gave him?

"To know and to act are one."

Pala beat the dysentary but now may be sleepless in Seattle. I got a call from Howard Wallace, great pal that he is, from SEATAC telling me it was shut down but had Pala in hand and would take him home should he have to spend the night and try again tomorrow -- or the next day -- or next. Trying to rebook that flight all the way from SEATAC to Kathmandu is going to take some doing. We may be seeing Pala again sooner than we thought.

Anyway, many thanks, Howard, and good luck, Pala.

The quake hit just after the flight from Reno hit the runway, and before it docked at the gate. Sea-Tac was evacuated, and all arrivals and departures were cancelled for a while.

Kami Sherpa’s flight was one of the first to load for departure. He was a couple of hours late but should still be able to make his connections on to Nepal.

:
Howard sure glad you and the rest are all okay up there.
And it's good to know that Pala got off safely towards Nepal. I imagine he just took it everything in stride and maybe said "Nepal Ho" as an old Ghorka just might do.

But you sure missed some time that I'm sure you would have enjoyed with Pala staying with y'all for a day or two. I know I would have regretted not being able to spend some time with Pala if at all possible.
Pala must have a thousand and one stories, maybe more, if he could make himself understood in English.
