Pala's deal of the day for 2/21. Definitely worth a look.

Story: Kumar has been doing good work and a lot of it so Pala said, "Kumar, I want you to make a khukuri. I don't care what model. All I ask is that you take your time and do your best. I want you to show the HI customers in America what you can do."

What you see is the result. Kumar took his time, made what he wanted, and produced one of the best khukuris I've seen come out of BirGorkha. I'm not sure what to call it so I'll just call it Kumar's Special Effort.

19 inches and 19 ounces of very quick khukuri that feels great in the hand. Even I can swing this one. It's almost 3/8" thick but the double fullers cut the weight way done. Fullers are deep and excellently define. And, it has a very nicely done convex edge, perfectly hardened. The handle is a work of art, combination buff bone and horn fit together so well you can't see the seam. Fit and finish are as good as Bura can do. Mounted in silver. I'm tempted to give this one to the dust bunnies but Pala says it needs to go to a customer.

Karda and chakma are small but perfect and handled in bone.

Scabbard is Chitlangi style with village sarki at his best.

Pala is giving this one away for $175 and this is one of the best UBBBs to come along.

Call or email.

that is one of the single most beautifull kuks I've ever seen, and I have the other one; a curved hanshee m43 that some of you might recall.

MCCARTNEYS first solo albun was one of the best ever heard- kinda like this kukuri.

Me, too. You've heard me say Kumar and Sher make the best handles of any kamis in Nepal and here's the proof of that statement.

It was much too beautiful for me. I'd have been afraid to use it or sharpen it, and I won't buy one that only sits around being decorative.

Blasphemy, I know.

Great stuff!!!

Does this mean that it's possible to special order a 19", 19 oz double-fullered blade and get one???

It'll take a while to save up, but I'll try and start now.

Thee emperor of all Chitlangis, fer sure. Good snag to whomever picked this one up. You got the good Chit!

Doubt it - but you might be able to order a "kami special" and get a 19" double-fullered blade.

Wow, I've been away too long. I almost forgot the beauty of the special deals that come out Bir Gorkha. Munk, you're nearly the worst tease - reminding us all about that Hanshee.

:)
