I went out to walk the dogs this morning and there, leaning against my front door, was the gray Sirupati. Imagine that -- a considerate postal worker who didn't want to disturb folks early on a Sat morning. What a great way to start a day!
Pala, thank you again. You did a really fine job of reprofiling the handle. The swell at the butt is somewhat proportionately smaller than that on my other khuks but, if I didn't know what was done, I would have just thought it to be the uniqueness of this particular handle. And what a pretty handle it is! Coincidentally, it appears to have been cut from the same piece of horn as one of the kagas katnes that I recently received. In fact, the chakma, karda, and kagas katne make a very nice matched set.
The blade is beautiful -- sleekly shaped & evenly finished with very nice brass inlay work. Several strokes with the chakma indicates that the hardening seems to be just right too. I started to develop a slight burr near both tip & cho without the sweet spot being so affected. BTW, Will & Yvsa, you would both appreciate the sharpening task ahead of me.
I would like to also thank you, Yangdu, as well. If it had not been for your mishap, I would not have a khukuri that was worked on personally by Pala. See, Uncle, miracles are possible.
Namaste all,
Brian
