has anyone fished in the pamlico sound? im going to be staying on the sound end of August. any info would be helpful.also would you be able to use a baitcaster from off the shore? thanks

That's right here in my neck of the woods.

I've never fished from a boat in the sound, but I've fished it plenty from shore and piers. I'm assuming your going to be on the OBX side of the sound and not the mainland. You can look forward to catching pinfish, those things are everywhere. Along with them you might hook up with speckled trout, black drum, flounder, bluefish, ect.

You shouldn't have any problem using a bait caster. I'm a spinning reel guy, myself. You'll have the most luck with live bait like blood worms or shrimp, and cut bait fishing on the bottom or with a float if the current isnt bad.

Good luck.
