Hello everyone,

pardon me if my train of thoughts slips away, as this is my first post here on this epic forum :-)

I ordered my first khukuri after years of decisions and searching for the best option, because what I love and seek the most in every material thing I posses is VERSATILITY.
Kukris are in that case my alpha and omega, now I am carrying this one with me AT EVERY SITUATION possible - as Winnie the Pooh once said "Nobody knows" :D

I wanted something durable, which will be here when I won't. Ofcourse kukris are great conversation topic, when the right people meet :-)

To cut the story short - I have chosen KHHI necessarily because of the price itself, but it really seems like they have official contract with English Army.
After lot of thinking and comparing all of the models I ordered Panawal Special, photo & description is right here.

I paid something like 110$ in total, because of high shipping price. I think it doesn't matter where You wanna send the package, it will always cost so damn high (more than half the price of the knife - wicked!) but I wanted to add an information that I live in Czech Republic ;)

after cutting down about 10 birch trees I realized they sharpen the blade, but not enough for my needs - I went down to a professional grindery, where the guy had a belt sander (as I do not have access to any workshop at all it was the only solution, my sharpening and honing stones are too wide for curves of the blade) - it cost me no more than 3$ !

after a while when carrying, I felt that the loop which comes with the scabbard is kinda short and without any "safety fuse" and because the scabbard is a little bit bigger than knife in the inside, knife had tendencies to slip away when I was lying or sitting. Then I took it, looked at it and made my own desing for 3$ and it is made from sturdy brown leather. Pictures included below :-)

The hollowing on the blade is --- not so accurate, but I think it's okay at least for me, it's a handicraft for fair price. Not sure if it's noticeable from the pictures.

Specifications

Weight: cca 900g (with scabbard and better frog)
Length (blade): 29 cm (11.5 inch)
Blade thickness: 8mm (in description there is 9mm advertised - still thick as a finger :D )

I hope so much You will like it as much as I do!!!!

I have one of those, but got it when a guy called GK was importing them. Mine is an excellent user, and has stayed sharp after going through lots of pines in the back yard. The heat treatment was perfect.
The only negative was that the wood handle shrank a bit, and I had to use sandpaper to round off the metal on the grip. Despite this, it is a great kukri, and the one I reach for when hard work needs to be done.
I did apply wiping varnish to the handle to seal the wood better.
I have a number of kukris, but this one is my favorite user. The Himalayan Imports may be pretty, but I never worry about using the Panawal for heavy chopping. It works better than a small hand axe.
