Went hiking yesterday with the kids and dog at Panther Creek.
Anyone in GA or SC that hasn't been here should check it out sometime.

Drop me a line if you ever get up this way. Planning on making a night of it next time out.

I have been hiking at Panther Creek for years and is one of my favorite places in Georgia to hike. The only problem I have is that people leave garbage at their camping spot and fire ring.I carry a garbage bag with me and carry out about 20 pounds of garbage each time I hike. The waterfall and pool at the 3 1/2 mile mark is always worth the hike. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Beautiful pics...looks like a nice place. What part of GA is it in? What city is it near? I'd love to check it out sometime this summer.

Nice to see others from around GA.
WJC01, the fishing is still pretty good there if you can take your eyes away from the scenery.

PARK, I was surprised how clean it was considering how busy it can be. There was some chopped wood left in some fire pits but nothing in the way of trash. Normally I keep a bag with me for trash collection as well.

Banana, It is up near Tullulah Gorge. I take 985 N until I hit historic 441. Not hard to find but might be a bit of a trek depending on where you are. Drop me a line if you need more info on it.

Take care and thanks for the replies.

Yes, the falls are great. For flat ground the trail has a few tricky spots if you don't have grippy boots. Nearly busted my backside last tiime I was there on some wet rocks. haven't been back since I got my new boots...more agressive lug pattern. Probably go next month and stay overnight to get used to backpacking again.

You're right, you do have a ugly mug. :D

On a more serious side, those are some great shots you took. I've never even heard of Panther Creek until now but would be interested in possibly checking it out one day. It seems that we have quiet a few people on here from Georgia. Maybe a North Georgia meet is in order.

Ricardo, You are right, there are some tricky spots where you have to be careful with your footing. The steel cables they put out there aren't trustworthy in some spots. Makes it more interesting!

LOL @ chickenplucker, no, I sure didn't but I would be full of it if I said I wasn't a bit nervous.

Lost, If it weren't for the fact that I am hung like a horse fly, I doubt I would have ever gotten anywhere with the ladies LOL.

A N. GA gathering would be great! Plenty of places to choose from that's for sure.

You're right, it is. Too bad it took me so long to figure it out but I am making up for lost time. Was spoiled living in the north east along the ocean but there is a special beauty to be found here as well.

Thanks for sharing...that's on our trip for the summer. We actually did our very first backpacking trip there with the kids. Is the trail still washed out...here's the "trail" that we had to climb up...with my overloaded pack, it was a bear!

Glade to see it's still doing well!

ROCK6, from what I've read, they made repairs to the trail since then. I can't say since I wasn't there in 2004 but there are some slick spots that can be "fun".

Nice pics, that last one looks familiar.
