A friend brought this skull by for help with its identification. When he described it on the phone I was almost certain it was a North American Lion.
My suspicion was correct. It is a fine example of adult female lioness.
It was found on one of his patented mining claims. This was not a primary deposition but I hope to go out and help him see if we can find any of her other bones.
