Pants were out in the rain last night!

To my surprise I fell asleep in my tent last night with my pants outside the tent! While I'm not quite sure how this happened my wife thought it was pretty funny. Immediately I freaked out grabbed the small bottle of CLP that I bring with me camping and all of the Q-tips to start rubbing down the Spyderco Endura and Leatherman sidekick that were in 3 hours of heavy downpour.

I'm going to be really honest I freak out about any kind of corrosion. This is more of a nightmare for me. With that in mind I worked it over with a microscopic eye to try to see if there was any corrosion or rust that had begun and what blew me away was not one spot had started!

So I'm trying to wrap my mind around it. Something that I have worried about for years just happened and the result was not what I was thinking it would be all along. They are actually just fine. Maybe now I can relax and start enjoying them for what they were intended to be.

One additional side note, I always before I leave on a camping trip wipe down with a thin layer of CLP to protect it just in case. This may have helped during the rain to protect it. Breakfree had my respect before this for firearms and blades but now I'm in total admiration of its ability.

Get something in M390 or S35vn and generally you wouldn't have to worry too much about it. I've swam with my s35vn PM2 in a lake and left it in my shorts the entire day while we had a picnic when all I did was wipe down the blade. I'm sure it was still pretty humid in my wet shorts but had no issues.

I don't think you should worry about a little surface corrosion that much

endura vg10 version? leatherman in 420hc? both vg10 and 420hc are very corrosion resistant. i would just dry them and not worry. clp is major overkill for very stain and corrosion resistant steels. too each their own though.

Correct both 420hc and vg10
I also go with mineral oil instead at times.

There was probably enough residue of oil to protect them. Those steels are pretty stainless in my experience anyway.

Neither of those items should rust easily unless you work at it. I left my leather in the back of my truck, submerged in water for a few hours after a heavy rain. Wiped it off, dryed, at some point may have oiled it but never had any rust issues.

These are clearly tools and you use them, but you don't need to worry about rust if some basis care is taken.
