Went out today with the intent of building a fire with flint and steel. So wood selection and flint and steel technique was the skills for the day. Did a short hike along the lake shore. Found a little thicket with a good wind break to set-up camp.

Wow it looks like a great time out. Love the pics.

What do you think of your eat and tool? I have been wanting to get one but have not yet.

Cool thanks, I am thinking one will work great when I eat at KCF since they have small container for the coalslaw and mashed potatos and gravey lol.. KFC's plastic spoons and forks have a bad habbit of breaking for me. The eat and tool looks perfect for that.

Thanks,

Bryan

very cool man, looks like a great spot. How do you like your maxpedition?

I've looked at one a few times, but never jumped on one.

Very cool little day trip, they are great for practice! Thanks for posting this, please keep it up as I appreciate it!

What happened to that Becker? And what did it start out as? A bk2? Either way I like it.:)

The lake is Delaware, I am on the Wildlife area side. Nice spots if you can find them and there are not too many folks out. I had to lay low for a few minuets to let a couple guys walk past. The lost interest since it was only 32 degrees out. :)

The knife is a Becker MKII RSK (Doug Ritter collaboration) The knife was stripped and convex ground by a buddy of mine. I put the finishing touches with a patina.

The maxpedition bag is a great little gadget bag. I had my fire kit, batteries, camera, snacks, multi-tool, etc. in it.

Looks like a good time out. I like playing with flint and steel. If it ever dries out enough I'm going to go back to experimenting with punk as a substitute for char. Dry punk works great as coal material with a fire steel, and I have gotten it to ember once with traditional flint and steel but I definitely need to practice more with flint and steel and organic materials. man it looks cold up there!
