  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Paper cutting sharp machete out of box

I own 4 machetes:
a gerber
a Pakistan cutlery
a cold steel
a condor
all of them came shipped to me so dull I would be embarrassed to give them to anyone for a garden tool gift much less any other application 🙄 so I had my Mexican file guy go to work on the.
the gerber is stainless steel but all the others are carbon,
would a decent stainless steel machet come sharper in the box than the carbon steel ones
(there’s a Chinese made stainless steel kukri I’m considering)
Are there any brands that are well known for being shipped paper cutting sharp out of the box?

The machetes I have bought didn't even have an edge. I always assumed it was a safety thing to stop psychos from picking them up in the store and going to town...

Cheap machetes are pretty easy to sharpen, grab a file or stone and have a go! Its hard to ruin a machete
