Paper For Knife Storage?

I have some knives stored away in a dry basement in a safe. I want to wrap them in some sort of paper so that they don't rust. Is household wax paper suitable?

VCI paper or bags is probably better.
You can also toss in some silica packs to make sure that safe is dry.
I don't see that the wax itself is damaging, but I think there are better options. Oil, clean, and remember to check. Foundations have a way of aging and you find out the hard way that it's not bone dry.

Coat them in a good rust inhibiter like tuff glide

and don’t wrap them in anything that does not breath
