I have read about using various papers (Post-Its, ...) as a base for stropping compounds. I just tried 2.5 inch wide brown paper packaging tape (the kind used to seal boxes, etc) as a substrate. Wetting/sticking it to cardboard held it in place. I also stuck it to some lite card stock and used it on a mouse pad for convexing. Both seemed to work well. Since the glue is water soluble, it could be stuck to and easily removed from glass, stones, etc. After appling CrO and stropping a dozen knives, the paper is still in good condition; seems to be quite durable. I am new to stropping with compounds on paper so I don't have the experience to compare this tape with other papers. Would someone with experience please give this tape a try and let me know how it works compared to other papers??? Thanks.
