Paper Micarta -> G-10?

Please forgive a potentially silly question, but is G-10 considered the replacement for Paper Micarta, in terms of handle material for Busse Combat knives? I ask, because looking at earlier knives I see Paper Micarta as an option, and now it seems that G-10 is being offered in its place.

I just got a fffbm with mag G10 handles. Damm close to the paper micarta:thumbup:

I know that paper micarta isn't as tough as linnen or canvas micarta.

G-10 is very tough because it's glass fiber instead of a natural fiber.

Since glass is translucent, it can be colored easily.

I think black paper micarta looks nicer than black G-10 but it's not a big difference.

The beautiful part about black G-10 is that it looks almost as good and it's about as durable as canvas micarta.

If I had paper micarta and G-10 as options, I would take the G-10 every time unless it was a pure safe queen.

I had a paper micarta SJT.

I liked it a lot but when I got my HOGSJTLE, one of the jacks had to go.

I always liked the way the paper micarta handles felt. When compared to canvas micarta, it is a finer grained material with better color saturation.

Some might complain that paper gets a little slippery with use and some perspiration. I don't think you could wear out a set of paper micarta handles in a lifetime.

Here's a photo of the pair before the sale.

Lunde...I think you may be right with your hypothesis. I don't think I've seen anything made with paper micarta in quite a while.

The black paper seems much more desirable. Maybe not better but I would sure rather have it.

In part to the fact that I have had plenty of G-10 and never black paper.
Kinda like the "you want what you can't have" thing.
