Whe you guys use paper on your Sharpmaker are you sharpening reprofiling using the leading edge (down) or trailing (up)? Im guessing trailing, so the paper doesnt get cut, correct? Thanks.

I tried going up but it felt really strange so I changed to the normal downward stroke. I does wear out the paper fast but I haven't had it cut through. Even if you have the diamond rods, a courser wet-dry "sandpaper" works much quicker.

Paper wheels are even quicker. ;)

You could probably get away with edge-forward sharpening as long as there's no bumps or irregularities in the paper... something for the edge to catch and cut. Pesonally, I stick to edge trailing when using wet/dry, cause I'm a little sloppy settin' the paper up. :D
