Anybody use a " Paper Wheel" to sharpen your knives? Heard of it in The Netherlands but can't find any information about it.
Does it work? And what is you opinion about it.
You put a little Elmer's glue on it, and then some powdered silicon carbide, about 320 grit, IIRC. It works well on DVD's. I wasn't very successful with mine.
i have guys come over to learn how to use the wheels or to get knives sharpened and they are amazed at how fast they are and how well they work.
sonnydaze, send me an email with your number and i'll give you a call and help you out. a lot of times i find guys are not holding their tongue just right (or their blade).
Richard is the authority on this topic! I wish I lived a lot closer so I could come and watch him in action.
I think we have a few members of BF who are good at mods, sharpening etc somewhere in my area. Would really like to see how others do things. (I live in Frederick County MD). About 1.5 hours from DC.
One more fan here. I've been using them for a few years now and I won't go back to any other method aside from Scandi grinds. Touch ups take seconds and reprofiling takes a few minutes. It's handled everything up to S90v and other high Vanadium steels. Richard gave me some good advice to get started.
