How does the paper wheel system work on D2 and recurves, namely a 710 D2 and also on S30V. Thanks.

I have the paper wheels along with several other sharpening systems. With the paper wheels I go slow and watch that I contact the wheel with the blade edge at the same place on the wheel so the edge does not get rounded. Also, I keep checking both sides to achive a symmetrical edge. I have not done too much D2, but a lot of S30V. Paper wheels are great for quick touch ups too. Good luck with your sharpening...

The paper wheels do a great job on D2.
If I had a recurve or 2 I would prepare a wheel with a rounded surface just for them.

Why not just tilt the blade and sharpen the recurve lengthwise or nearly so?

i have a set of paper wheels that are 1/4" wide just for recurve blades. they work great since the footprint is narrower than the 1" wheels. they do a great job on just about any type of steel.
