Hello all,

Ive been using my paper wheels with great results for about 6 months. When to touch up a few blades before deer season and I just cant get an edge... Its like the just wont work.. Im using the same technique that I was using and getting great edges...

The only thing that I can think of is that I have let my paper wheel get "dirty". I didnt do a good enough job cleaning my blades between use of the two and my paper wheel has gotten rather black. I dont know if this would cause these results (or lack thereof).

Thanks for your advice,
Brian

Regrit the grit wheel and ensure you apply the white rouge to the other wheel before using.

I too run into that problem every now and then. The essential problem is that the edge itself has lost so much metal that the two sides aren't "meeting" at a point. In which case, the solution is to go back to the grit wheel and work up a burr again.

It might also be just me, but I find that when the slotted wheel turns black, it helps to run some sandpaper over the wheel to "freshen" it up and clean out all that loose metal layered on top.
