Hey boys,
So, I have purchased my new Buffing system. It is similar to a Baldor.
This is a dual mount 10" buffer. It has variable speed settings. 1200RPM 2400 and 3450... Something like that any way.
So I use the 1200 to buff my plastics, and fibers.

I also have a de-burring wheel and steel buffing wheels coming as well.

So I placed any order for some sharpening wheels on the forbidden site and they are out of stock.

Where can I get the bast bang for the buck with these things.
I want to be able to do the following
-Reprofile to a sharp workable edge
-Do easy touch ups
-Achieve a close to mirror finish

What wheel would I need and what size works the best. Up to 10 inch like my buffer allows.
I also have a new strop set coming with all of my compounds for the final touch up.
Any help would be great.
I had a link to some sites but lost them

I have seen the Razor Sharp Brand. Keep im mind my system here is a 10 inch. So I assume I can just use the 8" set up?

What should I buy to do what I asked above.
Thank you and good morning from the shop.

The 8 inch set up will work fine, but you can go up to the 10 inch with your buffer. You can order the 10 inch from Steve Bottoff at Sharpening Made easy, along with the 8 inch. The 8 inch can be ordered from Grizzly, but they don't have the 10 inch. I would get the 10 inch 1 1/4 inch wide with your buffer if I had your set up.

Blessings,

Omar

Thank you very much for the information. I am going to look into it tonight.
BTW are there different grits. Or is it just a simple wheel that you just gently work to get a certain angle or sharpness?

The most common kit comes with a grit wheel ~180,iirc, a buffing slotted wheel, extra grit, bees wax and white buffing compound. That buffing wheel is great for a mirror edge.

Keep in mind that the wheel needs to be large enough so you can work the knife without the handle, your hand, etc. hitting the casing of the buffer. They usually recommend the same size or a size larger for clearance.

BB, Call Razor Sharp direct and order a set of 10"x1.25". May cost a little more than brand X. Everybody sells cheap when the item is out of stock! I believe the std. grit is 220. OBTW, tell them to send a set to my house too! Good luck......
