I am going to buy a set of paper wheels (Razorsharp Edgemaking) from the link on Richard J's site but had a question. The instructions say that once you have the wheels running true you should not remove them. I already have an 8" bench grinder with a stand. Does this mean I need to buy a dedicated set-up? Thanks!

i have a single shaft motor that i have mine mounted on and sharpen knives without any problems. i have a portable setup that i used to carry in my car to sharpen knives at a friends place or at businesses.

Thanks. I ended up reading one of your threads on this last night. Looks like I should pick up a dedicated set-up. I think I will try to get a buffing motor as the spindles are longer and give you more room to move the blade around.

i have a high speed buffer that i can mount both wheels on but i only mount one on at a time so i dont loose any skin on my elbow from the wheel i'm not using at the time.

Just ordered a 6" buffer with a stand from Harbor Freight and then ordered the 8" paper wheel from Grizzly. I can't wait to start sharpening! I have been looking at different methods for years but never saw anything significantly better than what I could do with my Lansky. Thanks for all of the info Richard J. It is very much appreciated!

A quick question about paper wheels: are paper wheels loaded with a abrasive compound, or are they just abrasive on their own like cardboard?

One wheel comes with grit, which is will wear out after a while.but is easily re applied. The kit from grizzly comes with wax, extra grit, and white rouge. I have been using them for a while now and really like this system.
