Within the next 24 hours I will have my son Carter reach his slender hand into some sort of container and pull out a ticket. Whatever I can find; bucket, jar, hat, water closet..... In the meantime, try and whip yourselves into a frenzy of anticipation. Well, get excited. Ok, have dinner and continue as normal.

Recieved the check from Nasty. Our Grand Total appears to be 655.00
This counts one check not here at present but vouched for by a good guy. There was also another forumite who was going to donate but haven't heard from since he emailed several days ago. He had some medical issues to take care of and I'll ask for a prayer for him but not reveal his name. Imagine being on the way to the hospital but taking the time to tell me he'd donate when he could. That's the kind of people we have on our hands here. Many donated before the raffle began, many requested no tickets, and many who had little gave much.

I know Pappy is pleased by our effort for his Bride in Texas.

Well done, and thank you.

Good job, guys/gals. Thanks to Munk and Nasty for arranging everything (hope I didn't leave anybody out), and good luck to all the raffle participants.

Tickets are printed and in ammo can. Waiting for my son to come home.

RIO JIM has won the raffle.

God bless Mrs. Peasley, and God bless all of us.

I keep thinking of things I should have put in my first post in this thread.

I am glad and proud to be a part of this Cantina. I know Pappy is smiling on each one of us right now. The Marines are a brotherhood. I think this Cantina has that same feel. I think Pappy would say the same.

Semper Fi, Pappy.

Let me say something about Stevomiller-
he donated his Sirupate and shipped it to Ferrous on his own dime.

Some of you when submitting said, 'give my tickets to so and so". I happen to know many tickets were under your name, Stevomiller, but I guess it was not to be. There was a natural impulse to thank the person who stepped forward with such kindness and sympathy. That is you, Sir. Thank you.

Let me say something about Ferrous: He stepped forward immediately upon hearing of Stevo's offer with his own enhancement of the blade. Well done, Ferrous.

We're surrounded by good guys, here.

It's sad that Pappy's gone, but it's beautiful that his life and time with us is celebrated.
Y'all are good folk, and I'm honored to know you.

Munk, thanks for the kind words, and thanks to all who put my name in the hat. The thought sure was nice! To be honest I would have either sold it and sent the money to Pappy's wife, or sent the etched kukri to her as a keepsake. That knife wasn't meant to be mine; it served its purpose once it left my hands ;) I would also like to thank all of you fine people that made this a fine success. May God bless you all, and may God bless and nurture Pappy's wife.

Wow! I’m gobsmacked (to use a bit of British slang I recently heard from Kohei)! This khukuri is a keepsake! Remembrances of Pappy, Uncle Bill, and the Cantina, every time I look at it. In spite of the occasional tiffs and differences in the forum, this khukuri represents the solidarity and selfless generosity of the Cantinistas who congregate here. Thanks goes to all of you, and to Munk, Nasty, Ferrous, and Stevomiller for making this happen. Karma works in strange ways.

and thats "Gods and Goddesses Bless" from my perspective. Hey, ya cain;t ever have too many...at least if yer me.

600+bux! You guys all rock, don't believe any words counter to that.

Tonight, I raise the minni (memory) horn for dear departed Pappy, laughing and hob-nobbing in the halls of his ancestors. Hail the widow, may our thoughts and deeds bring her weal!

Hail the Glorious dead! Hail Pappy!

Keith

Hey Ferrous, any hint as towards what sort of cool schtuff that you did to that thing? BTW, you kicked butt getting that thing done so quickly! It took me longer to get it packed and to the post office! :p

Uncle Bill, thank you for running the coolest karma bank on the internet!

Stevo

Still a bit of work to be done. I'm hoping to collect some tidbits of info b4 I finish it off...memorial stuff. I've arranged shipping with Rio Jim via email. He expressed a desire to get it photographed right, but I may have a few amateur snaps of it for reference. I'm sure Jim's will do it more justice.

And as I told Keith, there are still some contributions in flight, so though we have a winner, we're not done with either gift.

In some ways, it's about much more than a gift in Pappy's memory. Thanks to all ( munk, Nasty, Ferrous, Stevo ) who contributed beyond money.

By honoring Pappy, the Cantina has pulled together as we expected it to all along. Pappy came here ( and stayed as long as he was given ), plain and simple because there were folks he wanted to associate with here. Folks worth spending time with.

And there's plenty of them still left here...
