hey guys,

i just got a para 2, and i love it, except it has a very sticky lock. when you go to disengage the lock, there is a noticeable "click" before it give way and you can close it. i tried the pencil lead trick but it didnt work...

Is this just something that needs to wear in?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Mine does the same, I wouldn't worry about it as of yet. It may be inherent in the new design.

This is the same in my Para 2 as well. This feature really forces you to put down pressure with the tip of your finger. It's the only real downside to the knife, IMO. I hope it breaks in over time.

Just think of it this way, if its hard to intentionally disengage how hard is it going to be to accidentally disengage.

It doesn't bother me.

I wouldn't describe it as sticky either, more like firm, but it does click.

yeah your right, sticky isnt exactly correct...

i hope its not part of the design...it bugs me when locks are not smooth to disengage...

Mine engages with a firm snap and the lockup is extremely tight, I can't find any play at all.

I'm happy enough with that. We'll see what happens over time, I would think it will smooth out with wear.

I feel the same. Although it's nice to play with your knives, I appreciate a solid lockup more.

After hearing so much about the new bushing system and the older comp locks, I was concerned about the lock up of the Para 2. Man, was I proven wrong. :)

I got one of the original Paras when they first came out. The lock came sticky but the stickiness diminished with use. Don't worry about it.

P.S. I just ordered a Para 2.

So what is the consensus so far from those who have theirs?

Specifically,

* How is the lockup, side to side, up and down with the new bushing pivot?
* Is the fit and finish on par with the Taiwan knives such as the GB, Sage, PPT?
* How is the action when opening and closing the blade?

Thanks . . .

*Lockup is superb, no horizontal or vertical play
*Fit and Finish is very good, I don't buy Taiwanese knives so I can't compare the GB
*Action is very smooth

:thumbup::D

I agree with the above and think the f&f is on par with the GB and Sage I.

Yep, I agree with 5.56 and AF. The fit and finish of the Para 2 is just as good as the Sage 1 and 2, EXCEPT for the slight laser burn on the jimping of the liners. That's purely cosmetic though.

Q: How is the lockup, side to side, up and down with the new bushing pivot?
A: The lockup is solid. (A+)

Q: Is the fit and finish on par with the Taiwan knives such as the GB, Sage, PPT?
A: Fit and finish is excellent; it is very close to the GB. (A)

Q: How is the action when opening and closing the blade?
A: The inertia needed at the onset of opening is perfect. The swing through is perfect, just the right amount of ease and resistance. The final lockup is crisp and positive with a very satisfying mellow click. (A+)
The closing of the blade is a bit of a challenge. With two hands under ideal conditions it's ok. (B). With one hand it's a struggle—be careful gents! (C). On a positive note it is getting noticeably easier. In looking at the lock design I don't doubt that the knife will have a short break-in period. I'm fine with that.

I heard the little click on my Para2, I think it is from the detent ball.
