Have one on pre order ,I've heard jan 2011 I'm starting to lose hair over the anticipation. It seems to really be flying under th radar straight to its release... does anyone have any info please let me know .. if I get one more generic email from kc only to open and see still backordered I'm freakkkkk haha

That is how pre-orders go. There is not much talk about the knife because it hasn't been made yet so there are no pictures and not much to discuss. A sprint run can sound great in theory but sometimes they get rushed and end up disappointing quite a few people and sometimes turn out amazing.

I'm not real happy with how some stores handle pre-orders but at least it gives a chance at getting a knife that is limited and in high demand. Unfortunately, it doesn't always guarantee you will get a knife as some stores over sell them. Unfortunately KC is one of the worse offenders.

I know this is all somewhat negative but what I have learned is once I pre-order a knife I try to forget about it as there is less chance for disappointment. I had the S90V P2 pre-ordered with 3 stores and didn't get one from any of them even though I contacted them within 24 hours of the knife being mentioned by Sal. One of them even told me it is not first come first serve and that friends and long time customers get preference. Very disappointing and a quick way to lose a customer.

I have one on preorder (+prepaid+guaranteed) at one of the usual "suspects". :)

About the delivery time, two of these dealers told me that their rep informed them that the Para 2 CTS-20CP will be out "march-april" or "2nd quarter 2011". So I wouldn't hold your breath re. January 2011...

Please do elaborate on the KC comment.

I have a DPx Hest Folder on preorder from them since very early October '10 and I also preordered a Spyderco Navaja as soon as it was up for preorder there and what you said has me worrying a little bit. So, I'd like for you to tell me why KC is supposedly one of the worse offenders, please.

its because KC doesn't limit their preorders. here's a hypothetical situation to help me explain. Say Spyderco makes a sprint run of para 2 with titanium handles and m4 blade steel. say it is limited to 600 pieces...a common number. Well KC will have their preorder purchase button going for everyone despite them maybe only getting around 120 blades... that means for the 1500 people that preordered, only 120 of them actually got a knife. everyone else now has to scout the secondary markets, or be bummed that they missed out on this blade...

other knife companies make you call them to preorder, or they will wait for the availability of preordering until the know how many knives they will get. They don't want to have to contact their customers and say "I know you thought you were going to get this knife, but you're not...sorry"

it happened with me and a sweet CTS-XHP manix deal...it was beat. happened again with the S90V para 2 that came out. I ended up scouting bf and tracking down a guy who lead me somewhere i could grab one......now the only availability is through secondary...for around 280 bills.

That's what he means. If it's production, you will get one eventually, but in regards to sprints, I don't find them to be very reliable.

Calm down...I haven't even gotten a basic s30v version yet, even though I've had it order since last July. No one OFFICIALLY said January. They said "early 2011"..to me, that means any time before summer.

Just be patient, it will be that much more sweet after the wait.

I think I'm done with pre orders I cant deal with the anticipation (march april or second quarter) boooooo. Well the one good thing is I can buy something else I've been waiting to get till aftr this order went threw

This week, at SFO I was told the release date to be March. But there are no guarantees, this is just their latest info.

Regarding KC, I've been left hanging by their pre-order system quite a few times. I've learned my lesson and now go elsewhere.

I've been doing business with KC since the 90's. I know a bunch of them by name, and they even recognize my voice when I call. In that time I've never been treated unfairly, or , as far as I know, been given preference for my long standing business relationship.

They have been completely fair to the best of my knowledge, getting my order out, or not out depending on when in the queue my order was placed.

I don't know who told you that but a call to Mr Korn would not be blown off. He would be pretty hot under the collar if he found out his employees and or managers were involved in such activities.

He's a guy that recognizes that in the long run, that kind of business causes people who expect the right thing to be done to go elsewhere. I'd be one of them. At times I've paid a little more, and waited a bit longer to make my purchases there just so I don't have to worry about such things happening.

Yep, I have been disappointed in not getting a knife I wanted. If I had proof they were giving my place in line to someone else I wouldn't say a word, but I'd never do business there again. That goes for the 3 dealers I typically use and who have gained my trust. One thing I, and a lot of other people have had to do was pre order ASAP, and at more than one dealer. If you get called for more than one and can't afford it, ask the dealer if they mind finding another buyer for the knife. With these small sprints, that's not difficult to do. Joe

Agreed!!

I've pre-ordered from them a few times, only to find out the knife I ordered was released already.I go to their site and it says the knife is in stock, yet I recieved no email confirming my preorder was filled.
Also, don't PO a bunch of knives at the same time because even though one might be in stock, your order won't ship till they all are.

I do all my Pre-Orders from Jim Howe now,,he has his s**t together big time.

I don't want to gang up on anyone, but above experiences echo mine. Count me in the no more KC camp.

Wow this sucks I've now heard march now I'm hearing kc pre order doesn't mean I get one for sure dam dam dam I ordered in nov not super early I'm prob beat ahhhh crap...... and now I got to go plow snow on a ice rink the call streets .anyone know where can I find a sweet 3.5'' inch fixed in cpm 3v so I can chear myself up

Yep, I figured THIS out. It seemed obvious that they do that, seen that they still keep knives up for preorder even though months have passed from the first moment they were up for preorder.

However, my concern is if KC does practice favoritism (=let people pass you on the preorder list, if those people are older clients and/or friends of someone).
THIS would be a problem.

I preordered a Hest Folder when only KC had preorders up (within 10-12 hours from they moment they were up for preorder). I preordered a Navaja there when their preorder had been up for a couple of hours at max.
I think my timing was spot on. Unless, as I said, they are playing dirty tricks if a friend of someone orders something...If I ever discover that's the case, I would be done with KC in a millisecond, but I can't believe a respected seller would do that...
