I had recently posted a request for your opinions on digicam vs black for the para 2. Now I am wondering if I should just spring for the blue with M390? I know it will cost more money, and I might be ok with that, depending on the informed opinion of this fine community. Keep in mind, I am not a sharpening expert. I wonder about edge retention as well as ease of sharpening when comparing these two. Also, does anyone have any other comments comparing the base model and the sprint m390. Is the extra money worth it?

If your not into exotic steels then the standard s30v will probably suit you fine. It is a great steel, I love mine. I don't know where you would even find the sprint run now other than on the secondary market.

You can still buy the M390 sprint run from the exclusive dealer.

Or go for the Dark Green G10/CTS-204P (Carpenter's version of M390) that just went up for pre-order ;)

Bentoboxshop.com is the dealer of M390s you can get one BNIB for 187 shipped. It has much better edge retention. Is a fantastic stainless. And the edge retention+the geometry of the blade is orgasmic

That last sentence is sig worthy! I'm in the market for one of these too. I'm off to search for a good price...

M390 for sure if you cant wait for the new Green CTS 204p version. I have carried my M390 everyday since they shipped and used it a lot and the edge is still super sharp. No sttropping or sharpening at all. M390 edge retention is awesome.

S30v is fine. The M390 is nice but I'm not sure if it's worth double the price if it's a user. Either way the PM 2 is a kick ass knife.

Get the M390, I have both and it is vastly superior to the S30V. And, it will have a much higher resale value, when/if you decide to get rid of it.

m390... S30v is good, but always available, might as well get the exotic at a good price while you can

I went s30v with mine just because I bought mine as a user and I didn't think the blue would be my favorite in terms of edc, mostly because blue is more eye catching than black and I don't need any unwarranted attention regarding my knife. For me, m390 was simply not worth the extra $75 and a less than ideal handle color. Now, I would have LOVED to be able to find one of the grey ones...that just looks classy to me unlike the blue with looks tacky and childish IMO. If you are more of a collector than a user then I say go m390, if you are going to be edcing it I personally think the s30v is more than adequate.
